Don Draper isn’t back on TV just yet but you can get your hands on goods inspired by America’s favorite tortured ad exec starting tomorrow with the second round of the Banana Republic Mad Men capsule collection. Using off-duty Don’s time at the country club as a reference point, the pieces incorporate elements of 1960’s sportswear but have been updated for modern men, mad or otherwise. More info here.

First Look: Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2012

Marc Jacobs’s downtown cool kids must be listening to a lot of Specials records lately because the designer’s Fall 2012 collection looks like a celebration of the ska spirit, but in the most polished way possible. Tonal geometric print shirts, shown buttoned to the collar and tie-less, and wide horizontal stripe knits were topped off with tailored topcoats while below slim, cuffed pants hovered over black combat boots. The dark palette of colors kept things crisp while the textured fabrics (mohair, shag-style wool, crinkled cotton) provided visual interest in a collection created for the most stylish skankers out there.

First Look: Michael Bastian Fall 2012

Lions in Winter—that was the mode of Michael Bastian’s latest collection. Models varying in age and degree of facial hair sported fusty-cool updates on American classics—a lean, tan pinstriped suit over a gingham shirt; popped collar plaid underneath country cardigans; even a pair of pajamas right out of the Hefner handbook. These were the clothes of luxurious men, unafraid to draw attention without violating good taste.
